Introduction to Bush Flying
We are excited to announce that we have launched a three-day Introduction to Bush Flying Course – the course allows us the opportunity to provide visiting pilots with some added skills before they venture into the African skies.
During this informal three day course we assure you a lot of fun while learning techniques that you will take into the cockpit of any aeroplane you may fly in the future.
Important Notice:
Pilots who are interested in booking the Bush Flying course must be proficient, recent, and legally allowed to fly a ZS-Registered aircraft in South Africa. This means they must either have or obtain a Licence Validation of their foreign licence from the SACAA or a Valid South African PPL or Higher.

- Maintenance and safety: Understand engine overview, diagnostics and basic repairs to ensure a safe flying experience.
- Pre-flight Planning and Preparation: Dive into meticulous pre-flight checks, weight calculations and weather assessments for safe and efficient flying.
- Mountain Flying: Focus on specific requirements and techniques essential for flying in mountainous terrain.
- Flight Techniques Briefing: Understand specialised flight techniques including field-limited take-offs, obstacle-limited landings and more.
- Practical Flight Training: Apply theoretical knowledge in practical flight training sessions to hone your skills.
The course ends with you putting your newfound skills to the test with a navigation flight through the challenging Blyde River Canyon.

From Logistics to the Skies: Ryno’s Remarkable Aviation Odyssey
In the world of aviation, dreams often take flight against all odds. Meet Ryno, a passionate aviation enthusiast who dared to chase his dreams and transform his career. In 2015, he made a bold decision that would set the course for a remarkable journey in the skies.
Taking Off in 2015
Ryno’s aviation story began in 2015 when he made the life-altering choice to leave behind the logistics industry and embrace his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. It was a leap of faith, and one that would ultimately define his future.
Climbing the Ladder
Just two years later, in 2017, Ryno achieved a significant milestone by obtaining his Commercial Pilot’s License, this accomplishment marked the beginning of a new chapter in this aviation career.
Sharing Knowledge as an Instructor
But Ryno’s journey was not just about personal achievement. In 2019, he went on to obtain his instructor’s rating, which allowed him to impart his knowledge and experience to aspiring aviators. To date, he has given over 1000 hours of instruction, covering everything from ab-initio training to advanced techniques for Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and even the intricate art of Bush flying.
Exploring Southern Africa from Above
One of Ryno’s standout features as a pilot is his extensive experience flying throughout Southern Africa. His flights have taken him across breathtaking landscapes and diverse terrains. From the lush landscapes of South Africa to the rugged beauty of Namibia, Ryno has explored it all from a bird’s-eye view.
